"The popular east coast party Ascension will be moving to Asbury Park this summer, organizers announced Tuesday.
The weekend music and dance festival known to attract thousands from across the globe launched in 2006 on Fire Island, where it continued until 2014. In the past two years, Ascension was held in Mykonos, founder Eric von Kuersteiner said.
The city's transformation; major investments in the boardwalk and waterfront areas and the downtown's revitalization is what attracted organizers to move the global event to Asbury Park."
